Conservatorship
is the procedure where an adult is
appointed by the Court to oversee and be
responsible for the personal care and/or
finances and assets of another adult who is
incapable of managing alone.

Guardianship is the procedure where an
adult is appointed by the Court to oversee
and be responsible for the personal care
and/or finances and assets of a minor.

SIMILARITIES

-Requires a court hearing

-Requires an investigation by a court appointed social worker.

-Requires notice to all relatives to the second degree.

-Requires periodic accountings or follow ups with the court.

-Allows for temporary orders in emergency situations.


	The courts are very involved in these cases which means substantial paperwork, and in the case of conservatorships, delays.
